About Mendham

Mendham, NJ

Sit back and enjoy an armchair tour of present-day Mendham, a small village that has managed to maintain a quaint, small-town charm in the face of the suburban sprawl affecting other towns with easy access to Manhattan!

Some History

Mendham Township  was settled early in the 18th Century, mainly by Dutch, Swedes, Germans, English Quakers, and relocated New Englanders.

Mendham Borough, the village center located along Route 24, incorporated as a separate entity in 1906 in order to establish its own water system.

The  other Mendham, Mendham Township known as ‘Brookside’-- The total population today is nearing 10,000.

It’s antique homes, lining many of its main streets, typify the  vernacular architecture of Mendham’s founders, while giving the town it’s charm.

Two Mendhams!
